Jharsuguda : Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, along with a delegation from the Jharsuguda Municipality, met Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra on Monday. The discussion centered around preparing a 100-year master plan for Jharsuguda City Development, aiming to transform the industrial hub into a modern and green city.
The meeting highlighted Jharsuguda’s strategic importance, being home to Odisha’s second airport, and emphasized the need to align future development with the city’s growing potential. The delegation submitted a detailed proposal to the Minister, seeking funds and approval for multiple civic infrastructure projects.
Key demands included the construction of a new municipal office building, an independent market complex at Hatli Pada, a dedicated meat market, development of walking tracks at Sarabahal Padia, a cattle shelter at Malimunda, beautification and renovation of local ponds, creation of new parks, procurement of vehicles for catching stray cattle and dogs, and the construction of a vending zone at Sunari Muda.
Additionally, the proposal sought the installation of four clock towers and four ornamental city gates to enhance Jharsuguda’s identity and beautification.
Minister Mahapatra assured that the government is committed to holistic urban development across Odisha and promised swift allocation of funds for the proposed projects. “The Chief Minister wants all cities in Odisha to grow and develop. We will ensure Jharsuguda gets the attention it deserves,” he stated.
The meeting was attended by MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, Municipality Chairperson Rani Hati, Vice-Chairman Raju Panigrahi, Executive Officer Manas Ranjan Mallik, and several councilors, including Bandana Mundra, Debabrata Pandey, Tarang Dubey, Arvind Pathak, Monaj Kalet, Santosh Yadav, Prem Sen Ray, Bikalpa Tiwari, Birendra Pandey, Sonu Thirani, and Bimalendu Bhol.
