Jaipur : Jaipur house collapse news reports that an elderly woman died on the spot, while two women got buried when a dilapidated house fell in the city.
Family members said the rescue team arrived around 9 a.m., two hours after the accident, despite being informed immediately.
Locals alerted Tarun Mahawar, a relative of the injured women, about the incident.
Fortunately, the two children living in the house were outside playing and escaped unharmed.
The area has many unsafe, dilapidated buildings. A few days ago, a mansion in Subhash Chowk collapsed, killing a father and daughter.
After the accident, the Jaipur Municipal Corporation compiled a list of 48 dilapidated buildings and sealed eight in the Kishanpol area.
These recent deaths raised serious concerns about the municipality’s response to building safety. The collapsed house housed the two women and a housekeeper.
The owner, who lives nearby, knew about the building’s poor condition but took no action. Local residents Pratap Singh and Ghanshyam Soni said Sunita screamed for help after getting trapped, but no immediate assistance arrived.
Deputy Commissioner Seema Chaudhary of the Hawamahal Zone said officials issued notices to all owners of unsafe buildings and are conducting surveys.
Authorities announced that people should vacate unsafe structures, with some relocated to government-designated buildings.
Residents expressed outrage over the delayed rescue and ongoing neglect, demanding greater accountability from the Jaipur Municipal Corporation and building owners to prevent further tragedies.
