New Delhi: ISI trains over 1K ISKP terrorists in newly established camps across Pakistan to launch attacks on the Afghan Taliban, a move that has alarmed intelligence agencies and raised concerns of a potential terror spillover into India.
According to security sources, the ISI’s latest strategy aims to exploit growing tensions with the Taliban after a fallout over the Durand Line dispute. Since the conflict escalated, Pakistan and ISKP have joined hands against their common enemy, with Islamabad providing training and logistics to ISKP fighters.
Officials revealed that the new training camps are located in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where both serving and retired Pakistan Army officers are reportedly training ISKP operatives in combat, guerrilla warfare, and suicide missions. Intelligence inputs suggest that Pakistan could later divert some of these fighters toward Jammu and Kashmir, expanding the conflict beyond Afghanistan.
An Afghan detainee named Mohammad recently confirmed to authorities that he underwent ideological and combat training in Pakistan’s Quetta region. He also admitted that the ISI heavily indoctrinated recruits to intensify their anti-Taliban operations.
Experts warn that the situation could spill over into India, given ISKP’s long-standing ambition to expand its so-called “Caliphate” across South Asia. The group has previously recruited Indian nationals, including 21 individuals from Kerala who joined ISKP in Afghanistan.
Analysts fear that Pakistan may soon use ISKP as an additional proxy alongside Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba to strengthen its terror network in Kashmir. With the ISI training over 1,000 ISKP terrorists, regional security agencies are on high alert, bracing for a possible new wave of extremist threats across borders.
