New Delhi : India support Ukraine peace remains firm, as the government welcomed recent efforts to resolve the conflict and urged all parties to proceed constructively for a lasting resolution.
On the sidelines of the SCO summit in Tianjin, PM Narendra Modi, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasized the global desire for peace. He said, “We must figure out ways to end the conflict soon and restore regional stability. This is the call of all humanity.”
At the SCO Summit, Putin acknowledged India’s role. “We highly value the efforts and proposals of China, India, and other partners aimed at resolving the Ukrainian crisis,” he said.
PM Modi has repeatedly emphasized a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict. Last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called Modi, updating him on negotiations with US President Donald Trump and European leaders.
During discussions, PM Modi and Zelensky exchanged views on the humanitarian impact of the conflict and ongoing peace efforts. Modi affirmed that India is ready to contribute and convey appropriate signals to Russia and other leaders.
On August 18, Putin also spoke with PM Modi, sharing updates on his meeting with US President Trump in Alaska. Modi welcomed the summit and reinforced India’s support for constructive dialogue.
“India extends full support to all efforts in this direction,” PM Modi posted on X, reiterating India’s commitment to peace and stability in the region.
