Bhubaneswar, Odisha : India has successfully test-fired its long-range ballistic missile, Agni-5, from Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha, at 6:30 PM, marking a significant milestone in the country’s defense capabilities. The missile, capable of striking targets up to 5,000 km, reinforces India’s strategic and deterrence strength, making it one of the most advanced missiles in the Agni series.
Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Agni-5 is a nuclear-capable missile featuring advanced navigation and maneuvering systems, designed to bypass enemy defense mechanisms. The missile’s range now covers key strategic locations, including Beijing, Shanghai, Islamabad, and Karachi, and even extends over parts of Europe and Africa, enhancing India’s long-range strike capabilities.
The launch, conducted from Odisha’s eastern coast, demonstrates India’s growing self-reliance in defense technology, as most of the missile’s components are indigenously developed. Agni-5’s sophisticated design and precision make it capable of countering a wide array of missile defense systems, underscoring India’s ability to protect its national security interests.
The successful test of Agni-5 not only strengthens India’s strategic deterrence but also signals the nation’s continuous progress in missile technology, positioning India as a key global defense power in the 21st century.
