Mumbai: Actress Huma Qureshi described her recent Patna visit as a homecoming while shooting for her political drama Maharani 4. The series, set against Bihar’s power-packed political backdrop, made her reconnect deeply with the state and its people.
Speaking about her experience, Huma said, “Rani Bharti is back! Coming to Bihar after so long, especially as Rani, made this trip truly special. Visiting the Assembly, meeting girls at Patna Women’s College, and enjoying authentic local food felt like returning home.”
Huma Qureshi’s Patna visit also made her realise how much audiences love her character, Rani Bharti. “Being there dressed as Rani, I could sense people’s affection and connection with her. It truly felt like living her journey beyond the screen,” she shared.
Maharani follows Rani Bharti, a homemaker with no political background who becomes Bihar’s Chief Minister after her husband, CM Bheema Bharti, survives an assassination attempt. The series portrays Bihar’s complex 1990s politics, exploring corruption, caste power struggles, and the resilience of women in leadership.
Over the seasons, the story traces Rani’s transformation from a simple housewife to a confident political figure with national ambitions. In Maharani 4, Rani steps into national politics, facing new rivals and larger challenges beyond Bihar.
Directed by Puneet Prakash, produced by Kangra Talkies Pvt. Ltd., and created by Subhash Kapoor, the series stars Huma Qureshi, Shweta Basu Prasad, Amit Sial, Vineet Kumar, Vipin Sharma, and Kani Kusruti.
The new season of Maharani will premiere on Sony LIV on November 7, 2025, continuing the story of power, politics, and perseverance.
