New Delhi: In a major breakthrough for Uttar Pradesh Police, a notorious history-sheeter carrying a ₹50,000 reward — identified as Haseen — died in a Hapur police encounter late Sunday night. The gunfight broke out in the Kapoorpur area of Hapur district after police received specific intelligence about criminal movement.
Police sources said Haseen faced more than 25 criminal cases and was allegedly planning an incident of cow slaughter (gokashi) when the police team intercepted his vehicle. Instead of surrendering, he opened fire at the officers, and police immediately retaliated. During the exchange, Haseen suffered bullet injuries and later died while receiving treatment.
The team recovered a pistol, live cartridges, and a Swift Dzire car from the spot. After completing formalities, they sent his body for post-mortem and began a detailed probe.
Superintendent of Police Kunwar Gyananjay Singh said, “At around 12.30 a.m., we received credible inputs about a gang’s movement in the Thana Kapoorpur area. When our team tried to stop a suspicious vehicle, the occupants fired at the police. The team responded in self-defence, injuring one assailant who turned out to be Haseen.”
Police took him to the Community Health Centre in Dhulana and later shifted him to Rama Medical College, where doctors declared him dead. Singh confirmed that Haseen faced around 25–26 cases, including robbery, assault, and illegal arms possession.
The Hapur police encounter news highlights another success for UP Police in their ongoing crackdown on hardened criminals in western Uttar Pradesh. The Hapur Police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) had tracked Haseen’s movement for weeks before cornering him in the late-night operation.
