Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padi expressed deep grief over George Tirkey death, mourning the loss of the distinguished tribal leader and former MLA. Political leaders and officials paid their respects, highlighting his contributions to the community and his popularity in Sundargarh and Jharkhand regions.
Tirkey enjoyed widespread popularity across Sundargarh and Jharkhand, and his four-term tenure representing the Birmitrapur constituency reflected his connection with the people. His tireless efforts for tribal welfare left an enduring legacy. Speaker Padi extended condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul’s peace.
Earlier today, at around 11 AM, George Tirkey’s mortal remains arrived at the Odisha Assembly premises, where the Assembly rendered a guard of honor. Leaders and dignitaries, including Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Bardhan Singhdeo, Minister Prabhati Parida, Deputy Speaker Bhavanishankar Bhoy, Chief Government Whip Saroj Pradhan, BJD legislature leader Prasanna Acharya, Congress legislature leader Ramchandra Kadam, along with council ministers, MLAs, former ministers, senior Assembly officials, and staff members, paid their last respects.
They offered floral tributes and heartfelt prayers, mourning the loss of a leader remembered for his dedication to public service and his commitment to the welfare of tribal communities.
