Mumbai : Geeta Basra showbiz comeback has been a journey full of challenges, as the actress reveals how returning to acting after marriage felt like a dream come true.
She reflected on how the industry has evolved, becoming more welcoming for women post-marriage.
In an interview with IANS, the ‘Mehar’ actress called her return a “happy place,” saying, “It’s my happy place. Being on set is my dream, and I feel blessed to get another chance. Fifteen years ago, women struggled to return after marriage, but now times have changed. The new generation has evolved, and it hardly matters anymore.”
Basra also spoke about featuring in a magazine with her husband, cricketer Harbhajan Singh. She said, “Being included alongside legends and remarkable personalities is truly a proud feeling. Andrea ji and her team did a great job, and it’s an honor for us. We hope to collaborate more in the future.”
Explaining how the decision to feature them on the cover was made, she added, “Andrea, Shivendra, and the team discussed who should feature. Shivendra suggested Harbhajan’s name, and everyone immediately agreed. Soon, both of us were approached, and it all worked out beautifully. The timing was perfect—my film had just released, I stepped into production, and we participated in this show that people are appreciating.”
For context, Geeta Basra, known for her roles in films like “The Train” and “Dil Diya Hai,” took a nine-year break from acting to focus on family life after marrying cricketer-turned-politician Harbhajan Singh.
After a decade-long hiatus, she made a strong comeback with the Punjabi film “Mehar.” Directed by Rakesh Mehta, “Mehar” also marked businessman Raj Kundra’s acting debut. The film premiered in theaters on September 5, 2025.
