Angul, Odisha: A massive gas cylinder explosion in Nalco police station limits, near Maa Brahmani Devi Temple, left three people critically injured and caused extensive property damage early Sunday.
The blast occurred while the victims were asleep inside their home. The force of the explosion blew off the roof and sent a loud shockwave through the neighborhood, waking up nearby residents. On noticing flames, locals immediately alerted Nalco Police, who quickly informed the Angul Fire Department, followed by Nalco CPP Fire Services.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, but not before property worth several lakhs was reduced to ashes. The injured were rushed to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital and later shifted to Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment.
Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the blast.
