Angul, Odisha: Today, Shri Satyabrata Bhoi, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Northern Central Range, Talcher, inaugurated the first Central Range Badminton Tournament at Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium, Angul.
The grand inaugural ceremony featured the presence of Rahul Jain, SP Angul; Abhinav Sonkar, SP Dhenkanal; Anil Kumar Mishra, SP Deogarh; the Executive Director (S & P) of NALCO; SP PTC Angul; Deputy Commandant CISF; and several other senior officers of the Northern Central Range.
A total of 83 teams, including 13 men’s doubles and 10 women’s doubles, joined this major event. Teams from Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Angul districts, CISF, and OISF participated in the two-day-long spirited competition. This event also supports the ongoing Cyber Security Awareness Campaign, which promotes safe and responsible internet use among the public.
The tournament began with an exhibition match between SP Angul and SP Dhenkanal, which added excitement to the opening ceremony. Angul District Police organized the tournament under the guidance of Shri Satyabrata Bhoi, IPS, and Shri Rahul Jain, SP Angul, with CSR support from NALCO and JSPL.
During the inauguration, the distinguished guests stressed the importance of sports in building teamwork, coordination, and discipline among police personnel. The enthusiastic participation showed the police officers’ commitment to fitness, unity, and camaraderie. The tournament will continue for two days, with all teams receiving good wishes and encouragement to maintain true sportsmanship throughout the event.
