In a move to enhance festive cheer during the Durga Puja celebrations, the Odisha state government has decided to disburse advance salaries to all its employees.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed that the September salary be paid out by September 26, ensuring workers have funds in hand before the holidays begin.
Typically, government employees receive their monthly salaries on the last working day of the month. However, with state government offices set to close for Durga Puja starting from September 27, the early payout aims to facilitate seamless preparations for the festival.
The Dussehra season is synonymous with shopping and family gatherings, and this year, it coincides with nationwide celebrations under the GST 2.0 reforms, promoting a ‘Savings Festival’ across the country.
