Bhubaneswar, Odisha : As the festive season gathers momentum, the automobile market in Odisha is witnessing an unprecedented surge in demand for electric vehicles (EVs). From cars to two-wheelers, EV bookings have increased by more than 20 percent compared to previous years. This surge indicates a significant rise in EV sales in Odisha.

Traditionally, buyers wait for Durga Puja to bring home new vehicles, but this year, the trend has shifted toward electric mobility. Booking volumes have soared significantly, contributing to higher EV sales in Odisha. High-demand models are facing waiting periods of up to two months.

Experts opines that As both Central & State governments have rolled out multiple schemes to encourage EV adoption growing interest towards EVs. Waiver of registration fees, Subsidy benefits for commercial EVs, Financial support for setting up charging points are key factors of changing interest, leading to increased EV sales in Odisha.

The expansion of charging infrastructure across urban and semi-urban pockets of Odisha has further boosted confidence among buyers. One of the strongest selling points for EVs remains the cost savings on fuel. For instance, running a conventional petrol or diesel vehicle costs about ₹10 per kilometer, while an EV consumes electricity worth only ₹1.50 per kilometer. This translates into a saving of nearly ₹8.50 per kilometer a figure hard for many cost-conscious families to ignore. As a result, more families are considering EV sales in Odisha as a viable option.

Market analysts predict that demand for EVs will continue to rise during the upcoming festival and wedding season. With subsidies, expanding infrastructure, and increasing awareness, Odisha’s automobile market may well be on the road to an EV revolution, marking yet another milestone in EV sales in Odisha.
