Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Odisha authorities seized contraband worth over ₹1.40 crore and arrested 117 persons on the 15th day of the Enforcement Special Drive, continuing the state’s crackdown on illicit liquor and narcotics.
Enforcement teams busted 216 cases during the operation, confiscating 11,451 BL of illicit liquor, 367 BL of duty-paid liquor, and 1,05,240 litres of wash. They also seized 1,600 kg of Mohua flowers and 24 vehicles used for trafficking.
In a major action against drug networks, officials booked 14 NDPS cases, recovering 78 kg of ganja and 388 grams of heroin. Authorities emphasized that the operation targeted both liquor bootlegging and narcotics distribution channels.
“The drive will continue with intensified action. We aim to dismantle trafficking networks and prevent illegal alcohol and drug circulation across Odisha,” said a senior enforcement official.
The 15-day operation has demonstrated the state’s zero-tolerance approach toward contraband trade. Local police and enforcement teams coordinated closely, identifying trafficking routes and apprehending key offenders.
Officials urged citizens to report illicit activities and cooperate with enforcement agencies. The operation has not only led to arrests and seizures but also sent a strong message to networks profiting from illegal liquor and narcotics.
The drive forms part of Odisha’s broader Enforcement Special Drive initiative, which focuses on preventing crime, ensuring public safety, and protecting communities from the social and health hazards posed by alcohol and drug abuse.
Authorities confirmed that they will continue regular raids and monitor hotspots to curb illegal operations. “Our goal is to safeguard public health and uphold the law. Each seizure and arrest reinforces our commitment to a safer Odisha,” added the official.
