Bhubaneswar, Odisha : The Enforcement Special Drive in Odisha has continued its strong action against illicit trade, reporting contraband seizures worth ₹1.15 crore on its 17th day.
According to official data, enforcement teams detected 150 cases during operations and arrested 53 persons. The crackdown also targeted narcotics smuggling. Officials booked 11 cases under the NDPS Act, leading to the seizure of 143 kg of ganja and 167 grams of heroin.
Authorities stated that the sustained enforcement reflects the department’s determination to curb illicit liquor trade and narcotics trafficking across Odisha. The ongoing drive, which began earlier this month, has already led to several high-value seizures and the arrest of organized syndicate members.
Officials further noted that strict monitoring, combined with community cooperation, has been crucial in tightening the noose on illegal operations. The enforcement department has assured that the drive will continue with equal intensity in the coming days to dismantle networks involved in illicit trade.
With each passing day, the special drive is proving to be a major blow to illegal liquor and narcotics syndicates, safeguarding both revenue and public health in the State.
