Kolkata : Durgapur’s IQ Hospital rape case has become a major political Agenda in West Bengal Political Parties. The Bjp has stated a massive agitation in Durgapur where the opposition leader along with Agnimitra Pal and other key Bjp leaders and supporters has taken to the streets. They blocked the main road in Durgapur, burned tyres, and staged an agitation over the heinous Durgapur IQ Hospital rape case.
BJP leader Agnimitra Pal told that the Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has given false statement that the girl had gone out of the hospital premises at 12:00 am, while the incident had actually occurred between 8:00 and 8:30 p.m. The Durgapur IQ Hospital rape case incident is clearly shown in the CCTV footage that the victim leaving hospital premises at 8:00 pm. Mamata Banerjee has gone a step further by saying that a girl child should not venture out in night, as it’s not possible for police to give house to house protection, in her party a senior leader also has a similar opinion.

Opposition parties, including the BJP and CPI(M), condemned Banerjee’s comments, accusing the government of failing to protect women and losing control over law and order in the state. The Durgapur IQ Hospital rape case has triggered widespread protests, not only in Durgapur but also across Kolkata and other cities of West Bengal.

This incident has fired up a lot of agitation, both in Kolkata and other cities in West Bengal. Durgapur Bar Association has taken out a rally in protest, student wing of BJP has also taken out rally in Kolkata.
This is a grim reminder to the RG Kar case. The opposition parties have turned the Durgapur IQ Hospital rape case into their main agenda against Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress Party ahead of next year’s West Bengal General Election.
The Governor of West Bengal visited Durgapur and emphasized that the culprit must face justice immediately.
Orissa Women’s Commission Chairperson Sovona Mohanty reached the IQ Hospital but faced resistance from security personnel at the gate. They stopped her from entering initially, yet after some insistence, she managed to meet and speak with the hospital authorities.
So far, police have arrested five people in connection with the Durgapur IQ Hospital rape case. The court has granted a 10-day police remand, and investigators plan to take the accused to the crime scene for a full re-enactment of the incident.
