Raipur: In a landmark moment for India’s cultural heritage, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Memorial and Digital Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum in Chhattisgarh, marking the state’s 25th Foundation Day.

The event also witnessed the unveiling of major infrastructure projects worth ₹14,260 crore, reflecting a powerful blend of cultural preservation and modern development. Adding to the historic occasion, PM Modi also unveiled a statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the newly built Chhattisgarh Assembly.

Built at a cost of ₹50 crore across 10 acres, the Digital Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum stands as a living tribute to Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh, the first martyr from Chhattisgarh who led a valiant revolt against British rule. The museum immortalises the courage and resilience of India’s tribal communities through immersive digital experiences.

Featuring 16 state-of-the-art digital galleries, the museum chronicles iconic tribal uprisings including the Halba Rebellion, Bhumkal Movement, and Jungle Satyagraha using AI-powered visuals, virtual storytelling, and interactive exhibits. Visitors can even see themselves virtually dressed in traditional tribal attire through an AI transformation zone, making history come alive like never before.

Every corner of the museum merges ancient craftsmanship with digital art, from the hand-carved wooden entrance to virtual displays that narrate the untold stories of India’s tribal heroes. Sculptures of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Shaheed Gend Singh, and other revolutionaries add emotional depth to the experience.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai hailed the museum as a “global centre for tribal culture”, emphasizing that preserving tribal history is vital for inspiring future generations.

The Digital Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum is more than a tribute it’s a technological bridge between the past and the future, showcasing how India continues to honour its heroes while embracing digital innovation.
