Bhubaneswar, Odisha : As the festive season approaches, DGP Odisha Shri Yogesh Bahadur Khurania has ordered strict action against illegal puja donations to ensure public safety and prevent unauthorized activities. In past years, several instances of unregulated collections and unauthorized celebrations have been reported, prompting this proactive enforcement.

DGP Khurania has directed all district SPs to strictly enforce rules and curb illegal collections during upcoming festivals. He emphasized that these measures must be implemented at the grassroots level, ensuring vigilance across communities.

This afternoon, the State Police Headquarters hosted a review meeting under DGP Khurania’s leadership. Highlighting the importance of citizen safety during festivals, he instructed officers to take immediate action against any untoward incidents. He also urged constant monitoring of social media to prevent the spread of misinformation and rumors. District cyber cells have been tasked with 24-hour surveillance to ensure accurate information reaches the public.

The DGP stressed that police must remain alert, especially in sensitive areas, and respond swiftly to security threats. Officers have been instructed to increase patrolling, conduct strict checks, and act against habitual offenders. CCTV surveillance will be strengthened in key locations, and police will coordinate with festival committees, local representatives, and community groups to maintain safe celebrations.

Special attention will also be given to illegal cow trading and unauthorized commercial activities during the festive season. Police officials will oversee fairgrounds, public gatherings, and temple precincts to ensure smooth and safe events.

Senior officials present at the meeting included IGPs of Crime Branch, Additional DGPs for Modernization and Law & Order, DIGs for Provisioning and Personnel, and SPs from all districts. Some participants joined virtually alongside Guindaa Director Shri R.P. Koche.

DGP Khurania instructed that all police personnel remain fully prepared for emergencies, ensure continuous monitoring of sensitive zones, and maintain close coordination with local authorities and citizens. These proactive steps aim to safeguard communities and promote safe and secure festival celebrations throughout Odisha.
