Bhubaneswar, Odisha: With the Nuapada Assembly by-election scheduled for November 11, Odisha DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania visited the district. He aimed to review security preparedness and ensure a peaceful, transparent, and fair polling process as part of the DGP Khurania Nuapada bypoll security review.
To begin with, DGP Khurania inspected the Sunabeda and Datunama CRPF camps on the Odisha–Chhattisgarh border. Afterwards, he visited the IR Battalion camp at Jamanga, where he interacted with CRPF and Odisha Police officers. During the visit, he praised their dedication and urged them to remain alert and proactive throughout the election period. This dedication was crucial for the successful DGP Khurania Nuapada bypoll security review.
Moreover, he emphasized intelligence-based anti-Maoist operations, directing officers to stay fully prepared for any potential security challenges in Maoist-affected areas.
Later in the day, a high-level meeting was held at the Nuapada District Police Office, where the DGP reviewed law and order, polling booth safety, and force deployment. In addition, he instructed officers to take preventive actions under Sections 126 and 129 of the Civil Protection Code. They were also asked to conduct raids to seize illegal arms and liquor. Additionally, they were to execute pending non-bailable warrants (NBWs). This was all part of the comprehensive DGP Khurania Nuapada bypoll security review.
Furthermore, DGP Khurania stressed the importance of CCTV monitoring, strong room security, and strict compliance with Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines to ensure EVM safety and transparency during the DGP Khurania Nuapada bypoll security review.
In addition to operational readiness, DGP Khurania directed officials to strictly enforce the election code of conduct. He called for enhanced patrolling along inter-state borders. He also emphasized close monitoring of anti-social elements. Moreover, he emphasized maintaining law and order without compromise and adhering to ECI protocols for VIP and VVIP visits during the election period.
He further assured that the State Police Headquarters would provide full support to Nuapada district. This support aimed to ensure effective law enforcement and smooth election management.
Significantly, several top-ranking officers attended the meeting. These included ADGP (Anti-Naxal Operations) Sanjeeb Panda, ADGP (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar, and ADGP (SAP) Rajesh Kumar. Also present were IGP (Northern Range) Himanshu Lal, DIG (Operations) Akhileshwar Singh, DIG (Southern Range) Dr. K.V. Singh, and SPs of Nuapada, Kalahandi, and Balangir.
Together, their participation reaffirmed the state’s commitment to conducting the Nuapada bypoll in a peaceful, transparent, and well-secured manner, as outlined during the DGP Khurania Nuapada bypoll security review.
