New Delhi :Delhi Police ISIS arrest led to the capture of another suspected ISIS-linked operative in the national capital on Thursday, officials confirmed. The arrest follows the police uncovering a suspected ISIS-inspired terror module in Delhi on Wednesday, when they apprehended two suspects.
Authorities have now arrested five suspected terror operatives across multiple states. The latest arrest in Delhi involved Aftab, in an operation led by Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Kushwaha. Police then conducted raids in other states, including Jharkhand.
In Ranchi, the joint team of Delhi Police Special Cell and Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) captured Ashar Danish, a native of Petarwar in Bokaro district. Security agencies had monitored Danish’s movements for months. Acting on intelligence, officers raided Tabarak Lodge in Islamnagar, where he had been hiding.
During the operation, police seized weapons, chemicals for explosives, and electronic devices, including laptops and mobile phones. They also confiscated sodium bicarbonate, commonly used in IEDs, along with circuits, diodes, strip wires, motherboards, and respiratory masks. Officials will analyze these items for terror links and digital evidence.
Preliminary investigations indicate Danish planned a major terror conspiracy. Authorities had been tracking his movements in connection with a case already registered in Delhi. Following his arrest, police will seek his remand to interrogate him further.
The crackdown continued in Palamu district, Jharkhand, where police detained another suspect for questioning. Officials believe terror outfits are trying to use Jharkhand as a safe haven.
Delhi Police and ATS now focus on Danish’s network, potential handlers, and links to previously arrested suspects. Investigators expect his interrogation to reveal crucial leads about sleeper cells and a larger ISIS-inspired network operating in the region.
The operation highlights how security agencies continue to actively prevent terror activities in India, particularly in states targeted as logistical bases by extremist outfits.
