Bhubaneswar : The monsoon system remains active over Odisha, and a fresh cyclonic circulation is likely to form over Jharkhand, West Bengal, and North Odisha on August 7, according to Dr. Sarat Sahu, Director of SOA Centre for Climate and Environment.
As per the regional meteorological forecast, this system is expected to trigger widespread and intense rainfall until August 9, especially in the northern and some parts of southern Odisha. On Monday, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in many areas.
The IMD has issued a Yellow Warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain in three districts — Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, and Mayurbhanj — citing a high possibility of lightning and strong surface winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 km/h.
Additionally, 17 districts have been placed under Yellow Warning for lightning risk. These include:
Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

- Chandbali recorded the highest rainfall at 52.6 mm
- Bhadrak received 10 mm
- Kendrapada saw 6.4 mm
- Rourkela recorded 3.1 mm
