Cuttack, Odisha : The Crime Branch Cyber Police has arrested a man from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, in connection with a massive cyber investment fraud of over ₹1 crore.
The Complaint :
As per CID Crime Branch Cyber PS Case No. 10/2025, dated March 17, 2025, a citizen lodged a complaint stating he was duped by cyber fraudsters on the pretext of high returns through IPO and OTC trading.
The victim was persuaded to invest in multiple stages and eventually transferred ₹1,01,44,699 (over one crore rupees). Despite incurring initial losses, he was convinced to invest further. However, when he attempted to withdraw his money, the fraudsters demanded additional payment and refused to release his funds. Realizing he had fallen victim to a scam, the complainant filed an FIR.
The Investigation and Arrest :
The case was taken up by a Crime Branch team led by Inspector Bibhu Ranjan Sundaray. After analyzing transaction trails and digital evidence, the team conducted a raid at Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, successfully identifying and arresting the accused:

- Age: 33 years
- Father’s Name: Nageswara Rao
- Permanent Address: 1-85, Harizanwada, Patha Repudi, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh
- Present Address: D.No. 4-6-112, New D.No. 18-12-862, Koritepadu, Hanumaiahnagar, Chandramoulinagar, near Zanda Chettu, PS-Nallapadu, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh
During the operation, police seized mobile phones, SIM cards, bank passbooks, cheques, and other incriminating materials from his possession.
Court Proceedings :
The accused was produced before the Special Mobile Court, Guntur, and after obtaining transit remand, he was brought to Cuttack. He will be forwarded to the Hon’ble Court of SDJM, Mayurbhanj under sections 318(4), 319(2), 336(2), 336(3), 338, 340(2), 61(2), 3(5) BNS read with Sections 66-C and 66-D of the IT Act, 2000.
The investigation is ongoing, with the Crime Branch working to trace other members of the fraud network.
