Puri, Odisha : The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) has launched a ‘Nari Nyay Padayatra’ (Women’s Justice March) seeking justice for the Balanga minor victim, a girl who was allegedly set ablaze and later died under mysterious circumstances during treatment.
The march, led by PCC President Bhakta Charan Das, began from Khelar and moved through Balanga, Bayabar, and Nimapada. Thousands of Congress leaders, senior members, and workers joined the march, accompanied by a massive bike rally, demonstrating strong support for the cause.
During the campaign, Das visited the victim’s burial site, paid floral tribute, and met her grieving family. He also inspected the location where the girl was allegedly set on fire and held a detailed discussion with the wife of eyewitness Dukhisyam Senapati for over ten minutes.
From Balanga’s main market, the march advanced towards Nimapada, with Congress leaders vowing to continue their fight until the victim’s family receives justice and those responsible are punished. The protest highlights the party’s commitment to women’s safety and accountability in Odisha.
The Nari Nyay Padayatra has drawn significant attention across the state, raising awareness about the tragic incident and urging authorities to ensure a swift investigation. Congress leaders have emphasized that justice must be delivered without delay, reflecting the collective demand of the local community.
