Talcher, Odisha : Employees at Talcher coal mines have raised their voice demanding the Coal India employee bonus ahead of Dussehra. Led by AITUC General Secretary S.K. Sharma, mine workers staged a protest today in front of the Jagannath GM office, insisting on the immediate release of the annual bonus.
Today, under Sharma’s leadership, all Talcher coal mine workers presented their demands directly to A. K. Dhala GM Jagannath, targeting MCL management. They stressed the urgent need for the Coal India employee bonus, pointing out that this yearly payment helps them and their families celebrate the festival properly.
Every year, Coal India gives its employees an advance bonus. However, this year, the management withheld the bonus entirely, which sparked widespread discontent among mine workers. Consequently, frustration has spread across all coal mines in the Talcher region. Employees also emphasized that the timely bonus is not only financial support but also a tradition that motivates workers and strengthens family celebrations.
AITUC representatives warned that unless the Coal India employee bonus reaches employees immediately, they will organize larger protests in the coming days. They urged Coal India and the government to act promptly, ensuring that workers receive their rightful dues.
This protest highlights growing concerns over employee rights. Moreover, it demonstrates the determination of Talcher coal mine workers to secure their benefits and sends a clear message to officials: act now to prevent unrest and guarantee timely bonus payments before the festival.
