Bhubaneswar, Odisha : On the occasion of Independence Day 2025, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha addressed the people, highlighting the state’s remarkable progress over the past fourteen months. Emphasizing development over politics, the Chief Minister underlined that Odisha has successfully fulfilled the aspirations of its citizens by initiating several groundbreaking programs for the first time in the state’s history.
Under the guidance of visionary leadership, the state government has prepared targeted schemes for four major segments of society: women, farmers, the economically weaker sections, and youth. Priority areas for implementation include livelihood enhancement, infrastructural development, social empowerment, and preservation of Odia cultural identity.
Since June 12, 2024, Odisha has witnessed a historic phase of rapid development. Recognizing that nearly 60% of the population relies on agriculture, the government has emphasized diversifying income sources beyond farming. Initiatives include integrated support for fisheries, animal husbandry, and dairy, along with industry promotion through the Chief Minister’s Agricultural Industry Scheme, offering up to ₹1 crore in assistance. Over 50 lakh farmers now receive annual support of ₹10,000 each under state and central schemes, resulting in an average household income increase of ₹30,000 per year.
Industrial development has also seen a transformative shift. The Excellence Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 recorded ₹17 lakh crore in investment proposals and created 13 lakh employment opportunities. In just six to seven months, more than 60 new industries have been established, attracting over ₹1.8 lakh crore in investment and generating over 1 lakh jobs. State-level efforts also support small-scale and traditional artisans. The recent Odisha Textile Conclave created over 53,000 job opportunities with ₹7,800 crore in investment proposals, boosting the local handloom sector.
The Chief Minister urged citizens, particularly the youth, to take advantage of these initiatives and become self-reliant. Highlighting Odisha’s pride in its cultural heritage, she encouraged the public to wear handloom attire at least once a week to support and promote local craftsmanship as a national and global brand.
Odisha’s Independence Day 2025 celebrations showcase a state committed to inclusive growth, industrial transformation, and cultural preservation – setting a benchmark for regional development across India.
