Bhubaneswar, Odisha: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited the Special Relief Commissioner’s control room at 9 PM to review the Cyclone ‘Montha’ situation. During the visit, the CM reviews cyclone preparations thoroughly. He discussed the developments in detail with Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, Special Relief Commissioner Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, and Director General of Fire Services Sudhanshu Sarangi.

After the review, the Chief Minister said that by the grace of Lord Jagannath, the state has not faced any major impact so far. However, he noted that the cyclone will likely pass through Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur districts tomorrow. As the CM reviews cyclone preparations continuously, he stressed that all departments remain on high alert and are managing the situation in complete coordination.

The Chief Minister asserted that the state government’s only goal is zero casualty. Odisha has achieved several successes in this mission, and the administration has built strong preparedness through past experience. While CM monitors cyclone management efforts, the state control room monitors the situation 24×7, ensuring immediate response.

Sharing an update on the government’s actions, Majhi said the administration has shifted 17,817 people to safer shelters across eight districts. Teams will relocate more residents if necessary. In the same effort, health workers have moved 2,198 pregnant people to health centers, and 651 more are in transit — bringing the total to 2,849 people relocated to safety.

Departments such as Electricity, Works, Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj have geared up for post-cyclone restoration work. Importantly, the Agriculture Department has also readied plans to assess damages and deliver swift relief after the storm, as the CM reviews cyclone preparations to ensure everything is in place.

Majhi further said that Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw called him to discuss Odisha’s situation. The Railway Minister will soon decide on resuming the cancelled trains based on the latest conditions.
