Bhubaneswar, Odisha : On the occasion of Independence Day, Odisha Chief Minister emphasized the critical role of the state’s police and armed forces in safeguarding the nation. “Our police and armed forces bear the enormous responsibility of maintaining security, unity, and integrity of the country. It is our duty to honor and take pride in their service,” he said. To commemorate the sacrifices of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, the government will construct a Police Memorial, serving as a symbol of dedication and valor.
The Chief Minister urged citizens to remember that India is a democratic nation, where criticism of the government is a fundamental right. However, he cautioned against crossing the line between constructive critique and acts that threaten the nation’s stability. Drawing on Odisha’s cultural wisdom, he cited an old saying, emphasizing unity in times of crisis: no matter how diverse we are, in moments of national peril, we must stand together.
He called upon all citizens to set aside differences for the sake of state and national development, working with a shared purpose. “Odisha is the heart of our identity, a symbol of pride and resilience. Let us contribute selflessly to the state’s overall progress, as one mind and one spirit,” he urged.
Highlighting Odisha’s enduring spirit, the Chief Minister reflected on the historical resilience of the Odia people. Despite challenges, the community has never surrendered in the past and will continue to face future challenges with courage and determination. He prayed to Lord Jagannath for the welfare and prosperity of the state, emphasizing that the Odia identity remains a guiding force for growth and cultural preservation.
The address concluded with a patriotic call:
“Jai Hind! Bharat Mata Ki Jai! Bande Utkala Janani!”
