Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi today attended the 60th anniversary celebration of the Odia daily “Rashtradeep” at Jayadev Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. Addressing the gathering, the CM hailed Rashtradeep as “a shining lamp in the Odia newspaper world” and praised its role in nurturing nationalist thought and raising social awareness over the past six decades.

The Chief Minister said that newspapers like Rashtradeep, which uphold nationalistic values, are essential in today’s divisive times. “The more active, powerful, and influential such media voices become, the more beneficial it will be for both the state and the nation,” he noted.

Shri Majhi also assured the gathering that his government is aware of the issues faced by journalists and media organizations in Odisha. He stated that the government is actively considering solutions, keeping in mind the suggestions from various journalist associations. “Media is the eye and ear of society, and when it functions responsibly with professionalism and accountability, it strengthens democracy,” he said.

Highlighting Rashtradeep’s journey, the CM said that for 60 years the newspaper has consistently spread awareness, inspired public opinion, and upheld the values of nationalism. He added that the government values such contributions and will continue supporting media houses in their mission.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Ram Madhav, President of the India Foundation, who emphasized the role of nationalist newspapers in safeguarding national interest and spreading patriotic consciousness.

The event was graced by Rashtradeep President Shri Anup Kumar Bose, Editor Shri Chittaranjan Mahapatra, and Managing Committee Secretary Shri Satyanarayan Mishra. The program was conducted by Smt. Pragnya Paramita Acharya.
