Bhubaneswar, Odisha : The Diamond Jubilee of Kamalakant Government High School in Cuttack celebrated its Diamond Jubilee today, with Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi attending as the chief guest. The Chief Minister hailed the school, which has spread knowledge in Cuttack for 60 years, as a beacon of education.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced ₹1 crore from his discretionary fund for constructing the school’s Diamond Jubilee Hall. He assured that the school would soon join the PM Shri Scheme, receive a mini-stadium, two multi-storey residential blocks for students, and fulfill all other essential needs promptly.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the Diamond Jubilee celebration is not only for current students but also a reunion for alumni who have excelled in society. He praised former students, saying their achievements strengthened the school’s reputation. “Today’s students are the future builders of India. We must provide them with all possible facilities and opportunities,” he said.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Shri Suresh Pujari and School & Mass Education Minister Shri Nityananda Gand addressed the audience, emphasizing the government’s commitment to improving education in Odisha. The Chief Minister honored retired teachers of the school and unveiled the Diamond Jubilee commemorative booklet.

Local dignitaries joined the celebrations, including Cuttack MP Dr. Bhattruhari Mahatab, social worker Shri Nayan Kishore Mahanti, Cuttack-Sadar MLA Shri Prakash Chandra Sethi, Cuttack-Choudwar MLA Shri Saubhik Bishwal, and the school’s Headmistress Smt. Shubhdarshini Nanda. They all praised the school’s contributions and participated in honoring the educators.

The Chief Minister also discussed broader educational initiatives. He stated that under the PM Shri Scheme, the government will develop 762 schools across the state as model institutions. The ‘Nipun Odisha’ mission aims to strengthen primary education, and the heritage school project will renovate schools over 100 years old. Through the ‘As School Jiba’ campaign, officials will survey homes to identify children up to 18 years who are not attending school and enroll them in the next five years.

To ensure quality education, the government plans to create 39,366 new primary teacher posts over the next three years and regularize 5,067 contractual teachers by December 2025. Officials aim to fill around 44,433 teaching positions annually, enhancing access and quality in primary education.

The Chief Minister concluded by reaffirming the government’s dedication to providing students with world-class educational facilities and nurturing Odisha’s future leaders.
