New Delhi: Political leaders across India warmly wished devotees on the second day of Chhath Puja, known as ‘Kharna’. They also prayed for their well-being and prosperity. Meanwhile, devotees prepared to observe the sacred fast with devotion and reverence.
‘Kharna’ is the day when devotees fast from sunrise to sunset, refraining from both food and water. Afterwards, they break their fast by offering prayers to the Sun God, marking the sacred start of the festival.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to X and said,
“The ‘Kharna’ holds utmost sacred significance in Chhath Puja. Therefore, may this occasion bring welfare and prosperity to everyone.”
Similarly, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda extended his best wishes, stating,
“I wish all devotees observing the Kharna ritual happiness, excellent health, and prosperity. May Lord Surya Narayan and Chhathi Maiya bless you abundantly.”
Additionally, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta tweeted,
“Heartfelt greetings on the second ritual ‘Kharna’ of Chhath Puja. May Chhathi Maiya and Lord Bhaskar fill your homes with happiness, peace, and good fortune.”
Furthermore, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav wrote,

Importantly, the ‘Kharna’ fast symbolizes purification and devotion. Devotees cleanse their bodies from sunrise to sunset. Then, they partake in a special prasad of jaggery rice pudding. This marks the beginning of the 36-hour waterless fast that continues until the festival concludes.
Overall, the heartfelt wishes from leaders and the sacred rituals of Chhath Puja unite devotees across the nation in faith, gratitude, and devotion to nature and the Sun God. Consequently, the festival becomes a celebration of purity, wellness, and community spirit.
