Moscow : A powerful explosion in Kopeysk, Chelyabinsk region, killed four people and injured several others, authorities confirmed. The Chelyabinsk explosion 2025 blasts erupted shortly before midnight local time in the Leninsky district and nearby Kopeysk area, sending dense black smoke over the city.
Regional Governor Alexei Teksler said investigators have not yet confirmed a drone attack as the cause.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and set up a command centre. Officials assured residents that the blasts, including the Chelyabinsk explosion 2025, posed no threat to civilian property.
Russian media reported that the explosions hit the Plastmass military plant, which produces artillery, tank, and naval ammunition ranging from 76mm to 152mm. Pro-Russian Telegram channels, including Shot, claimed Ukrainian drones targeted the region and Russian air defences engaged the incoming devices during the Chelyabinsk explosion 2025.
The Chelyabinsk facility, located nearly 1,800 km from the Ukrainian border, plays a critical role in Russia’s conventional ammunition supply. Ukrainian forces have struck industrial and military sites deep inside Russia, including a defense plant in Mordovia and an oil complex in Dagestan, aiming to weaken Moscow’s war capabilities.
Additional explosions rocked southern Russia, including a military base near Stavropol, where a woman died from shrapnel injuries. In Kopeysk, officials are investigating reports that someone planted an explosive device near a bus stop at the 247th Guards Airborne Assault Regiment during the Chelyabinsk explosion 2025.
The Chelyabinsk explosion 2025 highlights growing security risks to Russian industrial and military facilities amid ongoing conflict. Authorities continue to investigate the blasts, assess casualties, and secure the area.
