Bhubaneswar, Odisha : The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha, Shri R.S. Gopalan, IAS, convened a meeting today at the CEO office in Bhubaneswar with representatives of all recognised political parties. The discussion focused on the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) for the upcoming bye-election to the 71-Nuapada Assembly Constituency, with the qualifying date set as July 1, 2025.

Shri Gopalan emphasised the urgent need for all political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) promptly. These agents play a key role in verifying voter details and ensuring active participation at the grassroots level. Soft copies of the draft electoral roll of the Nuapada Assembly Constituency were handed over to party representatives for review and verification.

The meeting also addressed voter grievance redressal mechanisms and booth-level coordination to ensure accuracy and transparency in the SSR process. Shri Gopalan urged party representatives to actively participate, stressing that cooperation from all parties is essential to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.

Representatives from major parties actively engaged during the meeting, seeking clarifications and providing suggestions to streamline voter verification. The CEO highlighted that meticulous preparation and coordination would help in creating an updated and accurate electoral roll, facilitating a smooth and fair bye-election.

The session concluded with a mutual commitment from all political parties to cooperate fully during the SSR exercise. The CEO reiterated that timely appointment of BLAs and proactive engagement would ensure the success of the electoral revision and strengthen democratic participation in Nuapada.
