Businessman Freed Vigilance: Khorada police achieved a major success in a kidnapping case. Within just 12 hours, they rescued the abducted businessman safely and arrested all five accused involved in the incident.
According to information, the case involves the abduction of Smriti Agency owner Sushil Kumar Subudhi in the Balugaon police station area. On the night of 27 September 2025, around 10:30 PM, he returned home after completing his business work when unknown assailants kidnapped him. Since the incident, his mobile phone stayed switched off.

Around 12:20 AM, his wife Tilotama Subudhi received a call from Sushil, who claimed he was with the ‘Vigilance Staff’ and would return by morning. Tilatma found this suspicious. The next morning at 8:30 AM, an unknown number called her demanding a ransom of ₹1 crore for Sushil’s safe release. She then reported the case to Balugao police station.
Considering the seriousness, SP Khorada Vivekananda Sharma (IPS) immediately formed a special team. Under the supervision of SDPO Balugaon Sanjay Kumar Patnaik (OPS), police from Balugaon and Tangi stations launched raids based on technical surveillance and local intelligence.
During the investigation, police found that the accused were fleeing in a Maruti Suzuki XL6 (number 25 BH 7950 B). When police tried to stop the vehicle, the suspects changed direction toward Kattak Sahara village in Chandapur police area. Pursuing them, police and local villagers together caught all five accused and rescued the businessman safely.
During the raid, police recovered the vehicle used in the kidnapping, over ₹6.25 lakh cash, three mobile phones, two swords, one knife, and the victim’s gold ring.
SP Khorada praised the police team for their quick and successful action and said the detailed investigation continues to identify and bring other people involved in the crime under the law.
