Chandigarh: In a major crackdown on cross-border smuggling, the Border Security Force (BSF) seized pistols, drones, and heroin in multiple operations along the India-Pakistan border in Ferozpur and Amritsar, Punjab. In recent operations, BSF seizes pistols, drones, and heroin across Punjab.
On Sunday, BSF troops found 553 grams of heroin in an agricultural field near Bhaini Rajputana village in Amritsar. Earlier, on Saturday, acting on intelligence tips, BSF personnel spotted a DJI AIR 3S drone near Daoke village, as part of their efforts to seize pistols, drones, and heroin in Punjab.
In another operation, BSF troops neutralised a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone carrying a pistol and magazine near Kahangarh village in Amritsar. Meanwhile, they recovered a pistol with a magazine and two live rounds from a farmland near Bahadurke village in Ferozpur. Such operations highlight how BSF recovers weapons, drones, and heroin in Punjab consistently.
“These operations highlight the alertness and determination of BSF troops in stopping cross-border smuggling attempts by Pakistani gangs,” the BSF said.
Beyond Punjab, the BSF actively tackles smuggling across the country. On Wednesday, officers intercepted a minor boy carrying 11 gold biscuits weighing 1,286.17 grams (valued at Rs 1.64 crore) at the India-Bangladesh border in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. During interrogation, the boy admitted that his mother sent him to deliver the gold. Authorities handed him and the gold over to the concerned department for legal action.
Earlier this month, BSF officers seized a gold bar weighing 579 grams in North 24 Parganas and arrested a suspected smuggler. The gold, valued at Rs 76.50 lakh, prompted further investigations into the smuggling network.
Through these high-alert operations, the BSF sends a strong message to smugglers and cross-border criminals: India’s borders remain secure, and authorities will swiftly thwart illicit activities, as demonstrated when the BSF intercepts pistols, drones, and heroin in Punjab.
