Jharsuguda, Odisha: Brajrajnagar Police intensified their crackdown under “Operation Netra” and busted an illegal drug supply network, arresting two youths involved in transporting and selling banned narcotic medicines. After receiving a credible tip-off on 14 November, Inspector M. Panigrahi and ASI D.K. Bag quickly mobilized a team and raided the Rajpur Patrol Pump field area. The officers caught the accused red-handed while they were allegedly selling the contraband.
Jharsuguda SP Gundala Reddy Raghavendra had earlier directed all field units to tighten surveillance, boost intelligence gathering, and act swiftly against drug peddlers. Following his instructions, the team increased ground monitoring and targeted the suspected location without delay.
Police identified the arrested youths as Prakash Kandara (21), son of Lochan Kandara, and Akash Kandara (23), son of Bhikari Kandara both residents of Rajpur Turipada under Brajrajnagar Police Station. Officers said the duo tried to circulate narcotic-based cough syrup in the area by operating discreetly.
During the raid, the team recovered a large quantity of illegal substances, including 120 bottles of Wincerex Cough Syrup (100 ml each, containing Codeine Phosphate and Triprolidine Hydrochloride), 40 strips of Nitrazepam tablets (10 mg, 400 tablets), ₹2,070 in cash, and a blue Yamaha R-15 motorcycle without a number plate that the accused allegedly used for transport.
Brajrajnagar Police registered the case as PS Case No. 255 dated 15.11.2025 under Sections 21(C)/29 of the NDPS Act. Officers said they will continue aggressive operations under Operation Netra, ramp up raids, and strengthen local intelligence to eliminate drug networks from the district.
