Boudh, Odisha: The political landscape of Boudh is heating up after the state’s power shift. For the first time, the BJP has triumphed here, ending the BJD’s long-standing dominance. However, Boudh MLA dynasty politics is becoming a focal point of discussion. The attitude of Boudh MLA and BJP leader Saroj Kumar Pradhan is reportedly causing unrest within the party.
According to sources, senior BJP leaders in Boudh feel neglected as Pradhan allegedly favors “imported” leaders who joined from the BJD after the general elections. While the newcomers bask in newfound influence, veteran BJP workers who built the party from the ground up are seething with frustration.
Ironically, the Bharatiya Janata Party, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been the loudest critic of dynasty politics. In Boudh, MLA dynasty politics is evident despite Modi’s anti-dynasty stance, which has earned him massive public trust. Yet local politics appears to be moving in the opposite direction. Analysts warn that if one family continues to hold all key positions from the grassroots to the top, the BJP’s credibility in the district could vanish within years.
Party loyalists point out that Boudh’s dedicated BJP workers were the real force that resisted the BJD’s 24-year reign. Without their relentless ground effort, Saroj Pradhan, who crossed over from another party and barely worked for the BJP, might not have tasted victory at all. But now, that very MLA stands accused of promoting the same Boudh MLA dynasty politics the BJP vows to end.
The list of family appointments is long: MLA’s wife Snehalata Pradhan serves as Harbhanga Block President, while Pradhan himself was elected Block Vice-President from Radhanagar Panchayat. His brothers, Sushant Kumar Pradhan and Prashant Pradhan, hold senior party and panchayat roles. These instances reflect the Boudh MLA dynasty politics trend visible in recent electoral strategies.
This growing pattern of “one family, multiple posts” has triggered sharp criticism from BJP insiders, who see it as a betrayal of the party’s ethical values. Adding fuel to the fire, a new wave of imported leaders from the BJD now in the BJP are flexing their influence, often boasting of being “close to the MLA” while undermining senior leaders.
As whispers of a cabinet reshuffle spread across the state, all eyes are on Boudh. Will Saroj Pradhan secure a ministerial berth or will Boudh MLA dynasty politics and inner-party rifts derail his ambitions? One thing is clear: the political temperature in Boudh is rising fast, and the BJP’s unity is hanging by a thread.
