Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati made his maiden visit to Bondaghati in Mudulipada panchayat under Khairput block of Malkangiri district and stressed the need for comprehensive development of the region and upliftment of the Primitive Bonda Tribe.

The Governor travelled from Koraput by a dedicated vehicle and received a ceremonial welcome at Gobindapalli, the entry point to Malkangiri. Malkangiri MLA Narsingha Madkami, Chitrakonda MLA Mangu Khila, District Collector Somesh Upadhyay, SP Vinod Patil, DFO Sai Kiran Bhavya and other officials greeted him and accompanied him to the Forest Department’s Inspection Bungalow before he proceeded to Bondaghati.

At Mudulipada, members of the Bonda community welcomed him with traditional music and dance, garlanded him, and walked with him to the sacred Sita Kunda and Shri Ram Temple. Dr. Kambhampati highlighted the need for holistic development of the pilgrimage site and reviewed ongoing initiatives of the Bonda Development Agency (BDA). He inspected livelihood projects such as tailoring units, multi-processing units, weaving, and jewelry-making. He also interacted with self-help group members and tribal artisans to learn about their opportunities and challenges.

The Governor distributed forest land titles to 15 Bonda and 11 Didai families. He handed over financial assistance under the National Family Benefit Scheme and Madhu Babu Pension Yojana to beneficiaries. He encouraged tribal households to pursue animal husbandry and poultry farming along with agriculture to improve incomes.

Addressing a public meeting at the BDA premises, Dr. Kambhampati advised the district administration to prioritize sustainable tribal development. He interacted directly with beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM Janman, elderly pensioners, SHG members, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, and youth volunteers. Later, he visited the local girls’ hostel and the high school managed by the Welfare Department, where he assessed infrastructure, teaching quality, and facilities. He also joined students during their mid-day meal.

Governor’s Secretary Rupa Roshan Sahu and senior departmental officials accompanied him during the tour.
