Bomb threat at Mumbai airport, passengers scared

Mumbai : A high-voltage drama unfolded at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Friday after the Mumbai Police control room received a chilling bomb threat, triggering widespread panic among passengers and prompting a swift multi-agency security response.

According to police sources, an unidentified caller informed the control room that a bomb had been planted at the international airport and would detonate shortly. The alarming call was immediately flagged, following which the Azad Maidan Police Station registered a case and launched an investigation.

The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), Quick Response Team (QRT), and senior officers rushed to Terminal 2 — the targeted location mentioned by the caller. The terminal was thoroughly searched for hours. However, no suspicious object or device was found during the operation, providing a temporary sigh of relief to airport authorities and passengers.

Further intensifying the investigation, officials revealed that the police control room received three separate threat calls, all from different mobile numbers. Preliminary tracking indicated that the numbers were active in regions bordering Assam and West Bengal. The identity of the caller remains unknown, and inter-state coordination has been initiated to trace the origin of the calls.

Security at the airport remains heightened, with additional forces deployed as a precautionary measure. Officials confirmed that flight operations were not disrupted but emphasized that strict monitoring is underway.

Mumbai Police have assured that all protocols are being followed and that the source of the threat will be identified soon. Meanwhile, passengers have been advised to remain calm but vigilant.
