Angul , Odisha : The BJP’s historic BJP GST Reform 2.0 will benefit every section of society while strengthening India’s economy, stated State BJP Deputy Speaker Golak Mahapatra during a press conference at the Anugul district BJP office. He emphasized that the 56th GST Council meeting’s landmark decisions under BJP GST Reform 2.0 will bring economic empowerment from villages to urban centers, allowing ordinary citizens to benefit in a tangible way.
Mahapatra highlighted India’s remarkable economic growth, saying the country has surpassed Germany to become the fourth-largest economy globally at $4.2 trillion. “Within the next two to three years, India’s economy will reach $7 trillion, becoming the third-largest globally. Our economic progress is evident from exports, which have grown from $466.22 billion in 2013-14 to $824.9 billion today, an increase of 77%. Similarly, GDP growth has increased from 6.3% to 6.8%, and investors in India have tripled in just five years, from 4.9 crore in 2019 to 13.2 crore today. FDI has doubled from $36.05 billion in 2013-14 to $81.04 billion,” he added.
He further explained that BJP GST Reform 2.0 will make everyday essentials, such as toothpaste, soap, and other daily-use items, more affordable. Students, farmers, MSMEs, middle-class citizens, women, and youth will benefit the most. The GST rate on bidi has been reduced from 18% to 5%, directly helping over 15 lakh people employed in the industry. GST on yarn has decreased from 12% to 5%, supporting weavers in western Odisha, while the state gains targeted advantages as coal GST rises to 18%.
Mahapatra stressed that the reform will ease the financial burden on farmers by reducing taxes on agricultural equipment, fertilizers, tractors, and their raw materials. It will also promote higher agricultural production. For small businesses and startups, authorities will simplify the registration process and make it more accessible. Health and life insurance services, along with essential items like medicine, dairy, and food products widely used by the public, remain exempt from GST, ensuring broad-based relief.
The education sector will also receive significant benefits. Various educational services, school and university materials, books, and learning aids that authorities earlier subjected to GST are now exempt under BJP GST Reform 2.0. These reforms aim to make education more accessible while promoting India’s economic growth, controlling inflation, and improving ease of living.
The historic press conference in Anugul saw the participation of District President Jayati Pattnayak, former District President Dileshwar Pradhan, State Executive Member Pratima Mishra, GST legal expert Ambika Prasad Sahu, District Editor Sudip Gadnayak, Rozalin Das, and several other senior BJP officials. Mahapatra concluded by expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister, and the GST Council for their forward-looking decisions under BJP GST Reform 2.0, which will empower citizens and further strengthen India’s economy.
