State BJP leader Arvind Sharma announced that Varun Singh (Bahadurganj), Anoop Kumar (Gopalganj), Pawan Yadav (Kahalgaon), and Surya Bhan Singh (Barhara) broke party rules by contesting against official NDA candidates. This expulsion marks a significant move as the BJP expels four rebel leaders in Bihar ahead of elections.
Sharma said the move shows BJP’s focus on keeping unity within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which includes JD(U), LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM, and RLM. Under the seat-sharing deal, BJP and JD(U) will contest 101 seats each, while LJP(RV) has 29 seats, and HAM and RLM have six each.
Despite the expulsion, the rebel leaders continue their campaigns, signaling growing dissent within the alliance. The BJP expels four rebel leaders in Bihar, a move intended to maintain party integrity. A senior BJP functionary warned that the action should discourage other rebels from defying the party.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) also acted tough last week, removing 16 rebels for similar reasons. The list included top figures such as Shailesh Kumar, Gopal Mandal, and Sudarshan Kumar. JD(U) leader Chandan Kumar Singh said they worked against the party’s interest.
Political analysts believe these disciplinary steps reflect a joint effort by NDA partners to manage rebellion and project unity before the high-stakes Bihar elections.
By taking swift action, the BJP aims to send a clear message discipline and loyalty matter more than personal ambition. With the polls nearing, the party wants no internal rifts to weaken its campaign since BJP expels four rebel leaders in Bihar.
