Mumbai, Sep 9 : Veteran actress-turned-politician Bina Kak shared glimpses of her quality time with Varun Dhawan and his family, giving fans a peek into their warm and cheerful moments.
On Instagram, Kak posted photos with Varun and his parents — filmmaker David Dhawan and his wife Karuna Dhawan, affectionately called Laali. With radiant smiles, she posed alongside the Dhawan family. Sharing the images, she wrote: “Spent super quality time with the lovely Dhawans at Mehboob studios where David is shooting his latest blockbuster @laali_dhawan @varundvn and David Dhawan.”
Kak maintains a close relationship with the Dhawans. She collaborated with David Dhawan in the 2005 romantic comedy Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?. Reportedly, Salman Khan offered her the role, which Sohail Khan produced while David directed.
In her Bollywood debut, Kak portrayed the fiery mother of Salman Khan’s character, Samir. The rom-com also featured Sushmita Sen, Katrina Kaif, Sohail Khan, Arshad Warsi, Rajpal Yadav, and Isha Koppikar.
Three years later, in 2008, she reunited with Salman Khan in God Tussi Great Ho, produced by Sohail Khan. Over the years, she appeared in films such as Nanhe Jaisalmer, Dulha Mil Gaya, Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love, and Jaanisar.
Beyond her acting career, Kak shares a deep, familial bond with Salman Khan. She fondly calls him her “rakhi brother” and mentor. Every year on Raksha Bandhan, she ties a rakhi to Salman, reinforcing their bond. However, this year she could not meet him in person as she recovered from a broken ankle.
In an emotional Instagram post, she wrote: “Since I am recovering from a broken ankle, I will miss you on Rakhi day, my dear Salman, my brother-like son… I pray for your happiness, long, healthy, and peaceful life ahead. Lots of love and blessings always, dear Salman @beingsalmankhan.”
Kak is also the mother of Amrita Kak, who is married to Riju Jhunjhunwala. Through her family ties and Bollywood journey, Bina Kak continues to remain deeply connected to the Dhawan and Khan families, symbolising both professional respect and personal affection in the industry.
