Bhubaneswar, Odisha : A national conference on Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Scheduled Caste (SC) welfare commenced in Bhubaneswar today. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, attending the two-day event, announced that Bhubaneswar will serve as the launchpad for a development roadmap for ST and SC communities.

This is the first such conference in Odisha after 25 years and the first outside Delhi. The event highlighted several welfare initiatives for ST and SC communities. The roadmap aims to ensure these groups progress alongside others in society. Proper planning and timely implementation will be key to achieving this goal.

The parliamentary committee overseeing ST and SC welfare will review budget allocations to ensure funds are used efficiently. Technology and good governance will play a crucial role in improving the lives of marginalized communities.

During the workshop, state and central committees discussed practical solutions to key issues faced by ST and SC populations. Insights from these discussions will guide future initiatives and help implement effective programs.

Om Birla emphasized that the main goal of the conference is to address challenges, enhance welfare, and ensure rapid execution of development programs. The event also provides a platform for exchanging experiences and best practices.

Fagan Singh Kulaste, Chairperson of the ST and SC Welfare Committee, reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to social and economic development. He urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure government welfare schemes reach the intended beneficiaries.

The discussions focused on education, healthcare, livelihoods, and socio-economic empowerment. Recommendations from the conference will guide state and central legislatures and help accelerate welfare measures for ST and SC communities.

This conference marks a milestone in strengthening the planning, execution, and monitoring of welfare initiatives for Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes in Odisha, ensuring sustained socio-economic development for marginalized populations.
