Bhubaneswar, Odisha : The Bhubaneswar New City Project is moving ahead as officials from Surbana Jurong South Asia met Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department (H&UD), at Kharavela Bhawan today. Mr. Avinas Misra, Chief Executive, and Mr. Abhisek Malhotra, Regional Director, Surbana Jurong, discussed strategies for urban infrastructure, managed services, and overall city planning.
The Odisha government has identified approximately 338.436 hectares for the proposed new city, envisioning it as an inclusive, vibrant, and resilient urban centre. The concept will be presented to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) under the Urban Challenge Fund. The project aims to optimize land use, enhance urban livability, and achieve international branding for Bhubaneswar.
The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) will consider engaging JLL to prepare a detailed master plan and recommend an optimal product mix for the city’s development. This collaboration follows the MoU signed between BDA and JLL during the visit of the President of Singapore to Bhubaneswar, emphasizing Odisha’s commitment to world-class urban planning.
Smt. Usha Padhee said, “The Bhubaneswar New City Project is a landmark step for Odisha to shape a world-class urban centre that reflects inclusivity, sustainability, and resilience for future generations.”
