Baleshwar, Odisha : In a landmark verdict today, a Baleshwar district POCSO court sentenced Badal Singh to 7 years imprisonment and a ₹10,000 fine for sexually abusing his 10-year-old daughter.
The incident occurred in the Remuna police station area, Basukhunta region, where the accused allegedly subjected his minor daughter to repeated sexual abuse. The child confided in her maternal aunt, who filed a complaint with Remuna Police on January 2. The police promptly registered the case and arrested Badal Singh.
DNA and forensic evidence played a key role in establishing the guilt of the accused. Following a thorough investigation, the court convicted him under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and POCSO Act.
Odisha Police, under the guidance of Director General of Police, Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, continues to closely monitor crimes against women and children. Investigating officers are instructed to use advanced forensic methods for swift case resolution.
Remuna SI Subash Chandra Mallik led the police investigation, while government lawyer Pranab Kumar Panda managed the case proceedings in court.
