According to reports, Malaya Nayak and his wife were away in Bhubaneswar for medical treatment when the incident occurred. Their son and nephew, Vijay Kumar Patel, were at home when four intruders, wearing masks, barged in late at night. The gang bound their hands and feet and swiftly looted valuables, including over ₹22,000 in cash, gold ornaments, a mobile phone, and a licensed firearm.
