Puri, Odisha : The Shree Jagannath Temple administration is soon going to implement such reforms in the Anand Bazaar. The decision was taken after a high-level meeting between the Chief Administrator Aravind Padhee and temple Suaras and Mahasuaras.
Currently, Mahaprasad is sold at arbitrary prices, with devotees often facing irregular pricing. To end this long-standing issue, the administration will soon display an official rate chart at Anand Bazar, listing the prices of all kudua (earthen pots) and varieties of bhoga (offerings). This will eliminate any confusion regarding costs and ensure fair pricing.
To further streamline operations:
- Only registered Supakars (temple cooks) will be allowed to sell Mahaprasad.
- Their assistants will be required to wear a uniform dress code and carry identification cards.
- Separate zones will be established for the sale of dry bhoga and khaja (sweet offerings), which will not be permitted near Mahaprasad stalls.
- A designated area will also be introduced for devotees to sit and consume Mahaprasad.
Strict action will be taken against any form of misconduct or disruption in the Bazar. The administration has also emphasized that no unauthorized ingredients such as non-OMFED ghee will be used in the preparation of offerings, preserving the sanctity and quality of the Prasad.
This long-awaited decision comes after years of demand from Jagannath devotees for a more organized, transparent, and respectful environment within Anand Bazar.
