Ahmedabad : Adani Cement, along with its Group associate PSP Infra, completed the world’s largest religious temple raft foundation casting at Umiya Dham near Ahmedabad on Thursday. Meanwhile, the project showcases India’s engineering prowess on a global scale.

The raft foundation, measuring 450 feet x 400 feet x 8 feet, will support 1,551 Dharma Stambhs for the 504-feet-tall Jagat Janani Maa Umiya Temple. Consequently, the temple will serve as the spiritual nucleus of a vast social and cultural campus in Jaspur.

Notably, the team achieved this monumental feat over an uninterrupted 54-hour operation, using 24,100 cubic metres (M³) of ‘ECOMaxX M45’ grade low-carbon concrete, a proprietary sustainable mix developed by Adani Cement.

“Umiya Dham is set to become an iconic spiritual landmark, spanning 60 acres and representing an investment of approximately Rs 2,000 crore. In addition, this project embodies the quality, scale, speed, and purpose that define Adani Cement,” said Vinod Bahety, CEO – Cement Business, Adani Group.

He added, “Our Chairman believes these engineering feats act as bridges between devotion and modern infrastructure. Therefore, the successful raft casting at Umiya Dham demonstrates how faith drives innovation and uplifts communities. By uniting innovation, people, and sustainable materials, we create enduring solutions and set global benchmarks.”

The company executed the project using 26 strategically located Ready-Mix Concrete (RMX) plants, more than 285 transit mixers, 3,600 tonnes of high-performance cement, and over 600 skilled workers and technical experts working in shifts over three days. Furthermore, the team meticulously planned continuous pouring to avoid cold joints while maintaining optimal temperature control and mix consistency throughout the process.

Adani Cement’s use of ‘ECOMaxX’ concrete significantly reduced the project’s carbon footprint, thus reflecting the company’s commitment to green construction.

R.P. Patel, President of Vishv Umiya Foundation, said, “This world-record foundation of the Jagat Janani Maa Umiya (Parvati) temple is a proud moment for India’s cultural and engineering heritage. Adani Cement’s proven expertise in mega-project execution made them our natural partner.”

The ‘ECOMaxX M45’ concrete mix uses 66 per cent Supplementary Cementitious Material (SCM), reducing its carbon footprint by 60 per cent. Additionally, proprietary Coolcrete formulation kept placement temperatures below 28 degrees Celsius, minimising thermal stress. Embedded thermocouples monitor temperature and durability in real time.

Overall, Adani Cement continues to play a pivotal role in India’s infrastructure and real estate landscape. From iconic structures like the World One Tower to engineering marvels such as the Chenab Railway Bridge, the company now applies its expertise to spiritual infrastructure with the Umiya Dham Temple.
