Bhubaneswar, Odisha : The Odisha Excise Department conducted a major enforcement drive across the state on 6th September 2025, resulting in seizures worth ₹1.42 crore. The coordinated raids led to 264 cases being registered and 183 arrests, targeting illegal liquor production and narcotics distribution.
During the operation, officials registered 17 NDPS cases, seizing 251 kg of ganja, 317 grams of brown sugar, and 9 kg of bhang. Large quantities of illicit liquor and brewing material were also confiscated, including 9,723 BL of Indian Made Foreign Liquor and 60,630 BL of fermented wash, much of which was destroyed on-site.
The drive covered both urban and rural areas, dismantling hidden stockpiles and supply networks. Special emphasis was placed on intelligence-driven raids to prevent illegal activities and protect public health.
An Excise Department official stated, “We remain committed to curbing the menace of illicit liquor and drugs in Odisha. Enforcement will continue to ensure safer communities.”
The Department plans to sustain such operations in the coming weeks, reinforcing its proactive approach toward law enforcement, public safety, and community welfare across the state.
