Oram Community Cultural Event: CM Announces Land, Tribal Aid

Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi attended the pre-evening ceremony of the Oram Community Cultural Event at Chandrashekharpur. The local Oram cultural society organized the program. He highlighted the importance of nature in human life. He stated that Karma Puja teaches that without nature, humans remain incomplete. The event reflects unity within the Oram tribal community. It also promotes cultural heritage.

Shri Majhi announced that the State Government will soon provide permanent land to the Oram Cultural Society. Financial assistance will support the community’s cultural development. He stressed that the economic, social, and political advancement of tribal communities remains the Government’s top priority.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister explained that Karma Puja teaches respect for labour and diligence. It reminds people that farmers, workers, and tribal communities form the backbone of the State’s economy. Such festivals strengthen unity and communal harmony. They showcase the Oram society as a symbol of togetherness.

The Chief Minister highlighted ongoing initiatives for tribal development. Under the State Government, residential schooling for over 5 lakh tribal students has been arranged. Sixty percent of them are girls. He added that 15 new Eklavya model schools will open this year. They aim to further expand educational opportunities. Scholarships and vocational training programs reduce school dropout rates. The Shahid Madho Singh Hat expenditure scheme provides ₹5,000 to 3 lakh children for education.

Shri Majhi stressed that tribal welfare programs remain crucial for Odisha’s progress. Nearly 23% of the State population comprises tribal communities. Preserving tribal culture, traditions, and heritage forms an essential part of development. Steps like constructing tribal cultural centers and promoting tribal scripts safeguard and propagate indigenous traditions.

Union Minister Shri Jual Oram recognized the Karma festival as the foundation of tribal economy, agriculture, environment protection, and cultural heritage. He lauded Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s initiatives. They focus on education, health, agriculture, environment, and empowerment of tribal communities. Shri Oram stated that collective efforts, labor, and dedication will strengthen the community’s future.

The program also saw the presence of Minister of Scheduled Castes & Tribes Welfare Shri Nityananda Gand. Oram Cultural Society president Sushri Sukeshi Oram delivered the welcome address. Editor Shri Premsagar Oram expressed gratitude during the event.
