Gas Cylinder Seizure Odisha: 534 Excess Cylinders Confiscated

Bhubaneswar, Odisha : In a major enforcement action, a gas cylinder seizure in Odisha was led by Khordha Supply Officer Shri Gyanendriya Mishra along with senior departmental officials, resulting in the confiscation of 534 excess cylinders from Lakshmi Enterprises. The operation highlights strict safety and compliance measures by the supply department to prevent overstocking and potential hazards.

Initially, officials reviewed documentation at the agency office located in IRCS Village. Upon detecting discrepancies, the team proceeded to the company’s depot in Sijua, Bhubaneswar. The raid revealed that both domestic and commercial gas cylinders were being stored in excess. Although the depot was authorized to hold 8,000 kilograms of gas, authorities found over 13,000 kilograms—534 cylinders beyond the permissible limit.

All excess cylinders were immediately seized and handed over to a nearby licensed agency for secure storage. Further investigation has been ordered, and a detailed report will be submitted to the Khordha District Collector. BPCEL Area Sales Manager has been directed to coordinate with the supply department for follow-up action.

During the operation, additional officials from the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, including Shri Rohit Kumar Das, Supply Inspectors Shri Dipti Ranjan Indrasing and Shri Yatin Kumar Raut, assisted in ensuring a smooth and thorough raid.

The department emphasized that such actions are crucial for maintaining regulatory compliance, preventing illegal stockpiling, and safeguarding public safety. Authorities also reiterated that all gas agencies must adhere strictly to storage norms to avoid penalties and potential hazards.
